This past week’s news cycle has been filled with the feud between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz going Nuclear.
Trump blamed Cruz for running an ad in ultra-conservative Utah featuring Donald Trump’s wife Melania naked. Cruz is blaming Trump for attacking his wife Heidi and then leaking a story to the National Enquirer alleging Cruz has had multiple affairs.
What neither candidate knows yet, is that it’s beginning to look like the real culprit is actually the Republican Establishment, and in particular Marco Rubio’s Camp, that orchestrated a brilliant plan to sucker both candidates into destroying each other.
What Started It All?
On Monday March 21, an online ad of Donald Trump’s naked wife Melania was distributed to voting age Mormon Women in Utah as the Utah Caucuses were about to get underway. The ad was paid for by a PAC called “Make America Awesome” which is an Anti-Trump PAC claiming to not be affiliated with any particular candidate. “Make America Awesome” was created by Republican Operatives Liz Mair and Rick Wilson. Mair was quoted as saying, “The stark reality is that unless something dramatic and unconventional is done, Trump will be the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton will become president.”
The Candidates Respond By Attacking Each Other
On March 22nd, Trump responded on Twitter by saying, “Lyin’ Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”
The next day, March 23rd, Trump countered with another tweet that said, “Lyin’ Ted Cruz denied that he had anything to do with the G.Q. model photo post of Melania. That’s why we call him Lyin’ Ted!” Later that evening Trump re-tweeted an internet meme that featured an unflattering image of Heidi Cruz on one side and Melania Trump on the other with the caption, “NO NEED TO “SPILL THE BEANS” THE IMAGES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS”. Cruz replied, “Donald, real men don’t attack women. Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life.”
Clearly incensed, the following day, Ted Cruz responded with an all out media blitz attacking Trump, even borrowing a line from the movie “American President” where he said, “If Donald wants to get in a character fight, he’s better off sticking with me because Heidi is way out of his league.”
Trump made one last tweet on the subject that said, “I didn’t start the fight with Lyin’ Ted Cruz over the GQ cover pic of Melania, he did. He knew the PAC was putting it out – hence, Lyin’ Ted!”
On Friday, March 25th a bombshell story was released by The National Enquirer, accusing Ted Cruz of having 5 extra marital affairs. Lightly pixelated pictures of the women Cruz allegedly had affairs with were included in the article. The internet was quick to expose 3 of the alleged mistresses. CNN Contributor, Commentator, blogger, and former Cruz Communications Advisor Amanda Carpenter was quickly identified by her picture. Donald Trump’s National Spokesperson, Katrina Pierson, who has strong Texas ties and supported Ted Cruz’s 2012 Senate Campaign was also identified from the pictures. Republican Political Advisor and Former Ted Cruz staffer, Sarah Isgur Flores, who now is Carly Fiorina’s Deputy Campaign Manager was also identified.
Cruz goes Ballistic / Trump Denies Involvement
On Saturday, in a Facebook post, Cruz immediately blamed “Trump and his Henchmen” for leaking the Sex Scandal . Later on Saturday, Cruz went even further and called Trump a “Sniveling Coward” and a “Rat” in a press conference he held to address the adultery allegations.
Trump then followed up by posting an article from The Daily Beast and just this morning, Trump tweeted another article from The Gateway Pundit. Both articles claimed people connected to Marco Rubio had been shopping the Cruz Sex Scandal to media for several weeks.
To recap. Cruz says he didn’t run the naked Milanea Trump Ad and Trump says he didn’t leak the Cruz Sex Scandal Story, but they are still blaming each other.
If Cruz didn’t Run The Melania Trump Ad and Trump didn’t leak the Cruz Sex Scandal Story…Who did, and why?
Meet Rick Wilson
Rick Wilson, is a Republican operative, Media Consultant and creator of the #NeverTrump movement. Wilson worked with the Marco Rubio Campaign during this election cycle. More notably, Wilson is adamantly opposed to a Donald Trump Presidency. He’s gone so far as to say the donor class was going to have to “put a bullet in Donald Trump” to stop him. Wilson was highlighted in a Wall Street Journal article titled, “GOP Operative Plans “Guerrilla Campaign” Against Donald Trump”. On Friday, March 24th, New York Times Magazine released a feature on Wilson titled, “Rick Wilson Would Take Clinton Over Trump”.
The Rick Wilson / Liz Mair Connection
Breitbart revealed Wilson and Mair jointly created The “Make America Awesome” PAC in a report titled, “Keystone Cops: GOP Consultant Class Heroes Publicly Panhandling in Desperate Bid to Derail Donald Trump”:
From the article:
“The “Make America Awesome” political action committee was founded by Republican political operatives Liz Mair–who left the Scott Walker campaign after blasting Iowa voters–and Rick Wilson to “dump Trump” by exposing his lack of conservative credentials and support of big government ideas.”
Wilson has also actively, publicly shopped the Cruz Sex Scandal to various networks, online publications, newspapers and tabloids. Further, he’s tweeted several messages to the media referencing “The Thing”, implying there is more to the story and the media is afraid to release it.
Connecting The Dots
It’s common knowledge The Establishment does not want Donald Trump nor Ted Cruz to be the nominee. They are both universally hated by those in control of Washington.
Rick Wilson and Liz Mair founded the Anti Trump “Make America Awesome” PAC which then runs the offensive ad with Trump’s Wife naked, encouraging ultra-conservative Utah Voters to vote for Cruz. Both Candidates attempt to destroy each other.
Rick Wilson shops and releases the Ted Cruz Sex Scandal Story to The National Enquirer.
Ted Cruz blames Donald Trump.
The media blames Donald Trump.
The back and forth puts both candidates in a negative light. Ted Cruz’s campaign takes a devastating, if not mortal hit if the scandal is true. Donald Trump’s image as a misogynist is re-inforced and his campaign is harmed thus making it less likely he’ll receive the 1237 delegates needed for the nomination.
The Republican Establishment, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, Establishment Darling Ben Sasse, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and any other Establishment White Horse that may arise at the much more likely Brokered Republican Convention.
Should Cruz Drop out, he’ll be releasing 465 Delegates that will be free to vote for whomever they wish at the Republican Convention. Surely the majority of those delegates wouldn’t vote for Trump, whom they believe attacked their candidates wife and leaked the story of his extra-marital affairs to the National Enquirer. They’ll need to find someone else to vote for (see list in previous paragraph).
Many Republican Officials, Candidates and Pundits have said, on many occasions, “Donald Trump will not be the nominee”.
Curly Haugland, an unbound GOP delegate from North Dakota, told CNBC’s “Squawk Box”, “The media has created the perception that the voters choose the nomination. That’s the conflict here.”
The Republican Establishment has shopped additional possible candidates like Ben Sasse, Paul Ryan or Mitt Romney. For his part, Romney has even encouraged Ohio Voters to vote for Kasich while encouraging Utah Voters to vote for Cruz in order to raise the possibility of a Brokered or Open Convention.
The ideal situation for The Establishment is Ted Cruz dropping out of the race with his delegates coalescing around any candidate but Trump. Trump’s brand gets damaged beyond repair and The Washington Good Old Boys Network stays intact. It doesn’t matter if Hillary wins, Wilson openly admits he’ll vote for Clinton over Trump. History has shown us the Establishment flourishes either way.
Quite frankly, it’s a brilliant, devious plan to kill two birds with one stone and steal the Republican Nomination. The Candidates, The Media and the Public bought it Hook, Line and Sinker.
